But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving- kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me! So for the sake of Christ, I am well pleased and take pleasure in infirmities, insults, hardships, persecutions, perplexities and distresses; for when I am weak [ in human strength], then am I [truly] strong (able, powerful in divine strength). ~ 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 AMP
What an awesome Scripture! Read back over it and just let it sink in. Does it make you look at trials a little differently?
I was riding down the road yesterday and had this thought, "Trials that come into our lives give us a platform for God's glory to be revealed through us." When we go through stuff, people are watching us. They want to see how we handle difficult situations. Sadly to say, some people are looking for anything they can to try to discredit us. If they see us reacting in a negative way to something, then they start saying, "See, I knew she wasn't a Christian. She acts just like everyone else."
The great thing about it is that those same people can be completely transformed as they witness us handling "life" in a positive way. Yes, bad things will come into our lives. We will never completely escape that while we're still here on this earth. But our reaction says so much about our character. Some people are so filled with drama and everything that happens in their lives creates total chaos. They go around like a tornado destroying everything in their path. They blow up anytime something goes wrong and then they end up hurting people all around them because they don't think before they speak.
We don't have to be that way. We have God who is on our side! His Spirit dwells within us and will give us the courage and strength to face anything that comes our way. When we get to the place where we just can't handle it anymore, God steps in. He is waiting on us to move over and let Him into the driver's seat. He's not going to force Himself on us. But if we will yield to Him and totally surrender to His will, He will accomplish amazing things in and through us.
As people watch Him at work in our lives, they will know there's something different about us. As they see the peace that we have in the midst of the trials, they will want what we have. They will know that there's no way we can handle it all on our own. The greater the trial, the more God's glory will be revealed through us! It will be His strength that everyone sees, not ours.
So the next time you think, "I'm not strong enough to handle this," you're right where He wants you to be. Let Him have control. Rely on His strength that is made perfect in your weakness. Then watch what He does. You will have peace like you never imagined and lives all around you will be transformed as they witness the power of God in your life. The power of God is not just an emotional rush that we get while we're in a good church service. The power of God is strength to live day by day regardless of what comes our way. Learn to depend on His power and His strength. Start relying on His Spirit. Your life will never be the same again!
